Australia, 01 May, 2025 \u2014 <\/strong>Australia\u2019s construction industry continues to show resilience amid persistent economic headwinds\u2014from rising construction costs and interest rate pressures to the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Against this backdrop, the  highlights the firms shaping the nation\u2019s built environment. 

Now in its fourth year, the annual report\u2014compiled by BCI Central, powered by Hubexo<\/a><\/strong>\u2014ranks Australia\u2019s top construction firms by the total value of projects that commenced in 2024. 

Based on live construction data tracked by BCI across thousands of projects, the report captures activity across sectors including commercial, community, industry, legal and military and multi-residential. 

This year\u2019s top 10 builders collectively delivered 272 projects valued at $18.6 billion, demonstrating the sector\u2019s ongoing capacity for large-scale delivery in a volatile climate. 

BESIX Watpac<\/strong> leads the League with more than $3.45 billion in commencements across just 11 projects\u2014averaging $314 million per build. In second place, Built<\/strong> continues its national dominance, launching 72 projects totalling $3.02 billion. 

Other high-performing firms include Multiplex <\/strong>and Hutchinson Builders<\/strong>, each sustaining strong project pipelines across both metropolitan centres and emerging markets. Hickory, Kane Constructions<\/strong> and Richard Crookes<\/strong> made notable climbs into the top 10 this year, while ADCO<\/strong>, FDC<\/strong>, and Icon<\/strong> retained their top 10 positions\u2014each surpassing $1 billion in project commencements. 

\u201cWhile economic pressures persist, these rankings highlight the strategic focus and adaptability of Australia\u2019s leading builders,\u201d<\/em> said Ashleigh Pattison, Director of Project Content APAC at Hubexo \u2014 BCI Central\u2019s parent company. \u201cThere\u2019s a clear shift toward high-value, complex builds\u2014delivered at scale.\u201d <\/em>

Together, the top 50 builders commenced $33.17 billion in projects\u2014down from $36.1 billion in the 2024 League, but still a commanding contribution to national development. 

\u201cThe League underscores construction\u2019s vital role in driving employment, infrastructure and economic stability,\u201d <\/em>said Ashleigh Porter, President, APAC at Hubexo. \u201cThese firms continue to lead through uncertainty with innovation and delivery strength.\u201d <\/em>

\u201cIn my recent discussions with the leaders of Australia\u2019s top construction firms, one thing has been clear, success hinges on creating certainty\u2014for their teams and their clients\u2014by getting involved earlier, sharing experience and managing risk collaboratively from day one.\u201d
