New Zealand, 01 May, 2025 — New Zealand’s construction industry has again proven its resilience, navigating a year marked by rising costs, workforce shortages, and supply chain disruptions. Amid these pressures, the Construction League report – New Zealand 2025 edition recognises the builders that led project commencements across the country in 2024.
Now in its third year, the New Zealand Construction League—produced by BCI Central, powered by Hubexo—ranks the top 50 construction firms by the total value of new projects that commenced in 2024.
Based on live construction data tracked by BCI across thousands of projects, the report captures activity across sectors including commercial, community, industrial, legal and military, and multi-residential.
The top 10 builders accounted for 256 projects totalling over $5 billion NZD, underlining their dominant role in shaping the national development pipeline.
Hawkins leads the League with more than $1.2 billion NZD in construction commencements across 31 projects, reflecting its ability to secure and deliver complex builds across sectors.
Naylor Love, ranked second, recorded the highest number of project commencements (94) totalling $828.9 million NZD, reinforcing its extensive national footprint. LT McGuinness retained third position, maintaining a steady trajectory followed closely by Southbase Construction, Summerset and Watts & Hughes.
Also breaking into the top 10 this year are Kalmar, Apollo Projects, and Fletcher Living, all contributing to critical development across community, residential and industrial, developments. Notably, Built entered the League in ninth place, with just two projects totalling $251 million—highlighting the growing emphasis on high-value builds.
“Despite the headwinds, the data shows continued commitment to construction and community infrastructure,” said Ashleigh Pattison, Director of Project Content APAC at Hubexo. “These builders are helping set the pace for what’s to come in 2025—demonstrating capacity, adaptability, and leadership.”
